| Adela Street / Music Blog | | Broken Beat - Essential releases. The definitive selection. | | Here's a selection of "must have" Broken Beat releases to be found at Adela Street. Broken Beat is better described as a feeling more than a repeat structure or rhythm. I cannot stress how fantastic these tracks sound on a good system. Dubstep and House fans also take note, these records will blow up your dancefloor !
Afronaut feat Melissa Browne - "Transcend Me."
THE genre defining broken beat record. Produced by Bugz In the Attic's Orin Walters with Kaidi Tatham on keys and Seiji on programming. Originally released in 2001 on the now defunct Apollo R&S offshoot but now more scarce than Osama Bin Laden. Always a floor filler. House DJ's have hounded me when i've played this, they love it too. Hammered by Louie Vega, Ron Trent, 4Hero, Jazzanova, Gilles Peterson and Kruder & Dorfmeister. Click on the image below and select the second track.

Ptahh - "The Crossing" Taken from The Seiji Remixes Album
A Co Op club classic and a record to be found in most Broken Beat DJ's all time top ten. Yet another superb production from Seiji. Super fat drums, a catchy hook line and a bassline to shake the system like no other. When the strings and voices drop in half way through the track will lift you to another level of bliss. A frequent "reload/rewind" powerplay for all the DJ's at Co Op. Sadly the soundclip here does not do the track justice, it starts at the begining before everything gets going but believe me its well worth the download. There are many tracks on this selection of remixes from Seiji that will really leave you spellbound. Other essential tracks include..
Melting Blue Ice (disorient remix) by Joakim Lone Octet.
slamming snares/awesome bassline and strings to die for. outstanding..
"Move On Up" feat Cherie Mathieson (bugz opaque remix) by Mark de Clive Lowe
Another one that House DJ's absolutely love. rhythms for dancers, soulful vocals and some very cool key changes.
Designer Baby (Seiji Remix) by Tycoon Tosh
Dubstep fans take note of this. Drum and bass here that makes Croydon sound like Toytown. Previously only available in Japan only. Click on the image below to download these superb releases

DKD "Future Rage"
A project conceived by pure chance out of a session originally between Afronaut & Dego. Daz I Kue and Kaidi. A broken beat anthem is putting it mildly. From there a whole album was produced comprised of forward thinking soul music, dancefloor bullets, supreme musicianship and some glorious vocal contributions, ultimately a real gathering of pure urban inner London musical talent, to form the most anticipated record to come from the Bugz camp or Dego for a long time.
